Microphone and computer audio

Follow both sides of the interview
in one live transcript

Elocira transcribes your microphone as “You” and the interviewer's computer or shared-tab audio as “Them.” Choose Desktop or browser capture, confirm consent, and watch each side appear in one conversation while you keep control of pause, resume, and finish.

Real product walkthrough

See live capture in the complete interview flow

The walkthrough moves from a prepared interview into live capture, answer guidance, and the finished report.

In this guide

Turn two audio sources into one readable conversation

You will choose a capture method, verify both audio sources, start with consent, understand changing versus completed transcript text, and use pause or finish correctly. Allow about seven minutes to read the guide, plus a short pre-interview audio check.

Consent → capture → transcript

How the live transcript builds

  1. Choose where the audio comes from

Use Device when Elocira Desktop will capture your selected microphone and the computer's system-audio output. Use Browser when the interview runs in a compatible browser tab that you can deliberately share with tab audio.

  2. Confirm permission before starting

Elocira requires you to confirm that everyone agrees to transcription and that the interviewing organization permits real-time AI assistance. That confirmation is not a substitute for asking the other participants or checking the organization's rules.

  3. Start capture and say a short test phrase

Your microphone appears under You. The interviewer's system or shared-tab audio appears under Them. Before the real conversation begins, speak briefly and play a voice through the meeting source to verify that both labels appear.

  4. Read live text as provisional

While someone is speaking, the current line can grow or correct itself as more audio arrives. Treat that changing line as a live draft. When the transcription service completes the utterance, Elocira keeps the finished line in the conversation history.

  5. Pause when capture should stop temporarily

Pause stops active capture without ending the interview. Resume when everyone is ready to continue. Browser capture asks you to choose and share the tab again after a pause; Desktop can resume through the connected app when its audio sources remain ready.

  6. Finish only when the interview is over

Finishing completes the interview and opens the path to its review. It is not a temporary pause and the finished interview cannot be resumed. Use Pause for breaks, private discussion, or troubleshooting during the call.

Choose the capture path

Desktop and browser capture listen differently

Both routes create the same two-speaker transcript, but they obtain the interviewer's audio from different places.

Elocira Desktop

Microphone + system audio

  • Available on Windows and Linux
  • Uses selected computer audio sources
  • Works alongside desktop or browser meeting apps
  • Can rescan after a headset or device change

Browser capture

Microphone + shared-tab audio

  • Requires a compatible browser
  • You deliberately choose the interview tab
  • “Share tab audio” must be enabled
  • The tab must be shared again after pausing

Realistic limitations

Audio routing matters more than meeting-app branding

Elocira can only transcribe audio that reaches the selected source. A muted microphone, a meeting playing through a different output, a tab shared without audio, revoked browser permission, or a disconnected headset can leave one side missing.

Transcription can mishear names, acronyms, overlapping speakers, poor connections, or strong background noise. Watch for both labels during the call and correct important completed lines when needed. Headphones usually make the two sources easier to separate and reduce echo.

Common questions

Live interview transcription

Can Elocira transcribe both people in an online interview?

Yes, when both intended audio sources are available. Your microphone is labeled “You,” while Desktop system audio or browser shared-tab audio is labeled “Them.” Test the exact meeting setup before the interview.

Why can I see my voice but not the interviewer?

The interviewer audio is probably not reaching the selected system-audio source or shared tab. Check the meeting's output device. In browser capture, select the interview tab and explicitly enable “Share tab audio.”

Why does the newest transcript line keep changing?

Live speech initially appears as provisional text, which may expand or correct itself while the person continues speaking. The completed utterance becomes a stable saved line afterward.

What happens when I pause?

Active capture stops, but the interview remains available to resume. With browser capture, resuming requires fresh microphone and tab-sharing permission. Finishing is different: it completes the interview and cannot be undone by resuming.

Can I correct a transcription mistake?

Completed transcript lines can be edited in the live conversation interface where correction is available. Corrections improve the saved conversation, but they cannot restore audio that was never captured.
