Windows and Linux setup
Set up Elocira for
your first interview
Create an account, download the Windows or Linux installer from your first interview, and let Elocira detect your microphone and system audio. If you prefer not to install the desktop app, you can use browser capture with a compatible browser and a shared interview tab.
Real product walkthroughs
Choose your operating system
Windows and Linux have different installation steps. These recordings show each path in the real product.
Windows setup and complete journey
Create an interview, install Elocira on Windows, start capture, see live guidance, finish, and open the report.
Ubuntu installation
Follow the Linux-specific installation flow from download through the point where the interview is ready to start.
In this guide
Go from a new account to an audio-ready computer
You will prepare your first interview, download Elocira Desktop, open the saved interview in the app, and confirm that it is connected and detecting audio. Allow about eight minutes, plus download time. Windows and Linux use different installation steps; the browser route skips the desktop installation.
Desktop setup
Install and connect Elocira Desktop
Create your account and prepare an interview
Register or sign in, then choose Start your new interview. Name the interview and optionally add your CV and the job description. Your account already has a default device workspace, so you do not need to create or name a device during normal setup.
Choose Desktop and download the installer
On the Ready step, choose Device as the capture source. If Elocira Desktop is not connected, select Windows or Linux under “Download and install the app.” Use the installer that matches the computer you will use for the interview.
Install on Windows
Open the downloaded Windows package and follow the installer prompts. Windows may ask you to confirm installation and microphone access. When setup finishes, open Elocira and keep it running in the tray while you use the web console.
Install on Linux
Extract the downloaded Linux archive, run the included installer, and follow its prompts. Elocira uses the computer's available microphone and system-audio sources. Desktop environments can show different permission or startup prompts, so follow the labels shown by your system.
Open the saved interview in Elocira
Return to the Ready step and choose Open Elocira Desktop. This secure handoff launches the installed app and connects the interview you just prepared. Do not share the temporary handoff link or code with another person.
Wait for the connected, audio-ready state
Elocira Desktop detects a microphone and system-audio source automatically; the status changes as the app connects and completes detection. If the selected hardware is wrong, open audio settings, choose the intended sources, and rescan after connecting a new headset.
No desktop installation
Use browser capture as an alternative
Choose Browser when starting an interview in a compatible browser. Select the interview tab, enable Share tab audio, and allow microphone access. Browser capture uses your microphone plus audio from the tab you deliberately share; it does not install Elocira Desktop or turn the browser into a Windows/Linux installer.
Keep the meeting in the shared tab and verify both speakers in the transcript before relying on capture. Browser and operating-system permission dialogs vary, and a tab shared without audio cannot provide the interviewer's side.
Two-minute pre-interview check
Confirm the setup before the call
- The intended device shows connected and ready.
- The selected microphone reacts to your voice.
- The system-audio source is the output used for the interview.
- Headphones are connected before the final rescan.
- A short test shows both speakers in the transcript.
- Everyone consents to transcription and the organization permits real-time AI assistance.
What Elocira checks
Device readiness
- Desktop connection to your account
- Available microphone source
- Available system-audio source
- Whether the device is ready to start capture
What you control
Your computer
- The device name and operating-system download
- Microphone and system-audio selections
- Desktop or browser capture mode
- When capture starts, pauses and finishes
If the device is not ready
Check the simplest failure points first
Open Elocira Desktop and confirm that it belongs to the same account and device page. Rescan audio after connecting or changing a headset. On Windows, check microphone privacy permissions. On Linux, confirm that the intended input and output appear in your desktop audio settings.
For browser capture, reselect the interview tab with Share tab audio enabled and allow the browser to use your microphone. If only your voice appears, the shared tab or system-audio source is usually the first thing to verify.
Common questions
Before your first interview
Does Elocira support macOS?
Elocira Desktop supports Windows and Linux. macOS desktop support is not currently guaranteed. Browser capture may be available in a compatible browser, subject to its audio-sharing permissions.
Should I use Desktop or browser capture?
Use Desktop when you want microphone and computer-audio capture through the installed app. Browser capture is useful when the interview runs in a shareable browser tab and you prefer not to install the app. Test the exact setup before the real call.
Do I need to create or name a device?
No. A default device workspace is created automatically with your account. Manual device creation is only relevant when optional multi-device management is enabled.
Why does my device show connected but not ready?
The desktop can connect before audio detection finishes. Wait briefly, then rescan. If it remains unready, select at least one valid audio source and check operating-system permissions.
